The 18” Telescope…. By Ed Roca.

    The optics for this telescope were ground, polished and figured by George Livanos.

   The construction of the telescope took about two years (on and of  to complete) and to me it was a work of love. I enjoyed every stage of the project.
    With telescope making I enjoy the fact that you can make a telescope that is aesthetically appealing and offcourse functional. 

 

     The telescope has an ALT,AZ mount and coupled with the Argo Navis and Servo Cat
it is a pleasure to use. The ease of which objects are found is unbelievable
thanks to the Argo Navis. The telescope also has slewing capabilities, with one
press of a button it will go to the next object and track it. I have a mounted green
laser on top of the telescope to show people what part of the sky they are looking
at when observing and leaving the laser on while it’s slewing makes for quite a laser show.
